With the goal of improving the quality of education in primary schools in Zambezia province, the project on Improving the Quality of Education, Inclusion and Community Involvement in Primary Education, implemented by ADPP under funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland (MFA) expects in the next three years to benefit a total of 12,881 students belonging to 24 primary schools in the districts of Milange, Molumbo, Morrumbala and Namacurra.

This is the extension of the project that has been implemented in the district of Milange, Molumbo and Morrumbala since 2019, which falls within the efforts of the Government of Mozambique in response to the millennium goals (Quality Basic Education for all towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals). This second phase of the project will extend until 2024.

One of the components of this project is the inclusion of children with disabilities in the national education system through the engagement of parents and guardians in their own communities, however, the project expects to work with 258 children with disabilities. The results of these actions will be through the involvement of 233 teachers, 48 board members, 240 school council members and 12,881 parents and guardians.

With the mission of activating the living forces in the school community, the 24 schools will become real examples of change in their outlook, management and practices in favour of a colourful teaching and learning process that is inclusive, in favour of gender equality, holistic in its perspective of community development and that embraces the human spirit and employs fundamental human rights.

The actions to be implemented with all actors involved will seek to increase the level of community participation in the promotion of gender equality as a way to promote the respect of children's rights, strengthen the strategy of inclusion and involvement of the female gender in the teaching and learning process and finally, the promotion of human development capacities within teachers and school managers.

The involvement of all community actors will allow a greater coverage of actions that will have as a reference the training of teachers in cycles to better understand issues related to gender and how to educate children with special educational needs. In parallel, community mobilisation and awareness raising campaigns on inclusive education and the identification of children with disabilities out of school will contribute to the fight against students dropping out.
