"Recognizing the role of ADPP and USAID, in the design and implementation of the RCD project, we want to deeply thank the support that these two institutions have provided to Cabo Delgado province to overcome the challenges posed by the extremism installed since October 2017" - said the governor.

Tomás Romão, representing the Community Leader of Ngalane, in Metuge, said that the arrival of the project has allowed for more cohesion and cooperation between the groups of displaced persons residing in the resettlement center of Ngalane.  "We, the IDPs from Quissanga, Muidumbe, Macomia, Mocimboa da Praia and Palma, districts affected by terrorism, have become more united and are working together on the various components of the project in order to improve our lives. We are learning how to produce quality vegetables, something that we did not do in our home areas. We now know how to plant in line, how to use Bio natural pesticide, the women in turn are learning how to make firewood saving stoves" he said.

The program is also supporting the training of 2,000 young people in the search for local talent with skills to access internships and employment in the private sector. At the end of all actions, the project is expected to have supported the socio-economic development of a total of 21,000 beneficiaries with a focus on strengthening resilience among people displaced by conflict and natural disasters and part of the host communities, with an emphasis on food security and increasing the capacity of youth and women in income generation and leadership.
