With the aim of strengthening the resilience of the education system in the face of natural disasters and emergency situations, a training programme is being conducted from 25 May to 4 June in the districts of Namacurra, Mocuba and Nicoadala. The training targets Pedagogical Influence Zone (ZIP) Coordinators, Teacher Training Institute (EPF/IFP) Trainers, and In-Service Teachers identified as Psychosocial Assistants.
The training focuses on two key areas: Digital Solutions and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Contexts, equipping participants with essential skills to respond effectively to challenges affecting the education sector during crises.
As part of the digital solutions component, participants are being trained in the use of tools such as Google Drive and Educational WhatsApp. These platforms support the secure cloud-based storage of school information while enhancing communication, collaboration, and resource sharing among teachers, schools and ZIPs.
At the same time, the Psychosocial Support component focuses on promoting teachers’ well-being and developing basic knowledge of Psychological First Aid. This approach aims to contribute to the creation of safer, more inclusive and supportive learning environments capable of addressing the needs of both students and education professionals in adverse situations.
The training is being implemented under the Project for Strengthening the Resilience and Well-being of Teachers in Areas at Risk of Natural Disasters, in close collaboration with the Provincial Directorate of Education and Culture of Zambézia (DPEC), the District Services for Education, Youth and Technology (SDEJT), and the District Services for Health, Women and Social Action (SDSMAS).
