Maputo Teachers Training School Holds 29th Graduation Ceremony

The Maputo School of Future Teachers (EPF Maputo) held, on December 11 in Matola, the 21th graduation ceremony for teachers and the 4th graduation of the Primary Education and Adult Education Teacher Training course, Model 12th Grade + 3 years. At this ceremony, the institution made available to the education sector 57 new teachers, including 36 women and 24 men, contributing to the strengthening of education in the country.

The graduation at EPF Maputo marks the beginning of a cycle of 11 graduation ceremonies at ADPP Teacher Training Schools across the country, which will graduate a total of 395 new teachers this year. With these graduations, the number of teachers trained over 32 years will rise to more than 26,000, many of whom currently teach in rural areas, while others hold leadership positions at various levels within the education sector.

The Director of the Office of the Secretary of State in Maputo Province, Naldo Horta, representing the Secretary of State, urged the newly graduated teachers to embrace their mission with a spirit of peace, patriotism, and citizenship, training citizens capable of responding to the current challenges of society. Horta also emphasized the Government’s commitment to ensuring the quality of education, stating:

“The Government of Mozambique reaffirms its commitment to the continuous improvement of the quality of education, recognizing that the training and appreciation of teachers constitute the essential foundation for the sustainable development of our country.”

Assussena Alfredo, one of the students named as the top graduate, stated that the graduates are aware of the challenges they will face in their areas of assignment and are prepared to overcome them, assuring that they have been equipped to teach in any context, responding with dedication and passion to the demands of primary education and adult education.

It is worth noting that the graduates of EPF Maputo are part of a group of 422 teachers trained this year by the four teacher training institutions operating in Maputo Province.
