Impact of OneImpact project disruption on TB services

2025-03-24

"Before the project was suspended, I received direct support from an activist who helped me whenever I had concerns about TB services. With his support, I also used the OneImpact app, which provided me with vital information, treatment guidance, and psychological support. This made a significant difference because it helped me combat the stigma we face daily.

However, everything changed at the end of January when the activist informed me that the activities would be suspended immediately. In February, I began to miss the OneImpact activists and faced several difficulties in my treatment, including self-stigma and the long distances I had to travel from my community to the health facility. This demoralized me. Previously, activists organized sensitization meetings on TB and human rights, both in the community and with health committee members and religious leaders. Now, these meetings have been limited, as community leaders are struggling to hold them due to the ongoing political crisis. Without these meetings, the situation has worsened. I feel so helpless that I’ve even considered moving, despite knowing that it could interrupt my treatment and worsen my health condition.

Júlia Manuel OneImpact

I am deeply concerned about the suspension of the project. Without the support of activists, people with TB suffer and face significant barriers in communicating the challenges they encounter. I hope the activities will be resumed because I know that many, like me, need this support to continue our treatment."
