OPEC funding helps students to successfully complete their first year
Forty-nine student teachers from Maputo Teachers Training College (TTC) successfully completed their first year of studies, credit to the generous support received from OPEC Fund for International Development.
During the first quarter of the year, the student teachers familiarized themselves with various aspects of the TTC which included boarding life, the use of various information and communication technologies as well as gaining a comprehensive understanding of the contents of the courses offered in primary school level.
The student teachers visited Manjacaze and Chilembe districts the birthplace of Eduardo Mondlane, the first president of FRELIMO, and Samora Machel, the first president of Mozambique, respectively. This enabled to learn about the history of the country through walking on the footprints of these two Mozambican legends.
In preparation for deployment after graduation, the students visited primary schools in order to gain insights into the realities of these rural schools.
Student teachers also conducted teaching practice at some primary schools to put into practice what they had learned in theory during their training. To keep them active and gainfully engaged, the student teachers also participated in various cultural and sporting activities, small-scale farming and animal husbandry among others.
