ISET/OWU graduates 27 students in Community Development
ISET/OWU graduated 27 students in Community Development on September 2, 2011. The graduation ceremony took place at the ISET / OWU in Changalane, District of Namaacha and was attended by His Excellency President Armando Emilio Guebuza, the Minister of Planning and Development, the Vice-minister of Education and other senior members of Government.
They also attended the ceremony, the Governor of Maputo Province, the District Administrator of Namaacha, Heads of Administrative Post, traditional leaders, community members of several districts, as well as representatives of the international community.
ADPP Mozambique and the International Federation Humana People to People were represented at the highest level.
This graduation is of great importance to the ISET / OWU, because it results from a challenge by His Excellency the President, when in 2008 he visited ADPP and exposed his great concern to train Mozambicans who should be closely linked to problems related to the development of the country and in the districts should be able to fight with wisdom and persistence side by side with the poor and alongside with her/him be actors in combating poverty so that this should also be reflected in the improvement of life in rural communities.
It was with this opening that today ISET/OWU celebrates the graduation of 27 graduates in Community Development, well trained to fight alongside the poor, and as outlined by the ISET/OWU Director, "It is probably the first and only degree in the world with this title ...”
In addition to this course, ISET/OWU also has the Faculty of Education which trains teachers specifically for the 26 Schools for Teachers of the Future of ADPP in Mozambique, Angola and Malawi, which train teachers for primary schools.
Presently, ISET/OWU has about 280 students and we expect the number to increase to 500 in coming years.
