ADPP Mozambique signs agreement on implementing the TCE in Gaza
ADPP Mozambique signed an agreement on September 14, 2011 for the implementation of one of its programs to prevent and combat HIV / AIDS in Gaza province. The agreement was signed by seven civil society organizations of which ADPP is member. The agreement was signed by FDC (Fundação para o Desenvolvimento da Comunidade), the principal implementer of Global Fund Round 9 projects, and civil society organisations composed of seven organizations which includes ADPP.
The Total Control of the Epidemic - TCE - project in Gaza will cover 800,000 people in the districts of Bilene, Chokwe, Mandlakazi and Chibuto. In these areas, ADPP Mozambique has already started to do a baseline survey in order to determine the exact needs for resource allocation.
The TCE project is based on the idea that "Only People Can Liberate Themselves from HIV / AIDS Epidemic - Others Can Only Help." Every single individual in the areas of operation is provided with individual counselling, mobilized to take an HIV test and encouraged to change behaviour in order to live without risk of being infected or infecting others around him/her.
The project includes complementary activities aimed at empowering communities to tackle the consequences of the epidemic and reduce stigma and discrimination.
ADPP Mozambique has 12 years experience in the implementation of such projects, and is looking forward to successfully accomplish the objectives of the project.
