Teacher Training College Gaza combating malaria and HIV/AIDS

The Teacher Training College in Gaza started in July 2006 with its first team of students. The rehabilitation of the facilities has completed 2000m² and further 1500m² are in the process.
Background

 

The Teacher Training College in Gaza started in July 2006 with its first team of students.

The rehabilitation of the facilities has completed 2000m2 and further 1500 are in the process.

 

Location

 

The College is based in Nwachicoloane, Chókwè district, Gaza province in the southern part of Mozambique.

 

Education of teachers

 

The people at the College consist of 205 Students, 12 Teachers, 3 Development Instructors and 10 Other Employees.

 

Team 2007 has 117 students and is finishing this December the period named “Our Country Mozambique”.

 

88 Students of the team 2006 have successfully concluded the “Specialization and the Charter Subjects” and they are now going to the 11 months of “The Teaching Profession as Part of the Education”.

 

Other activities

 

The students have participated in the campaign of combating malaria in the community through plays, opening of drainage ditches and holes to lie down garbage. They also participated in the campaign of combating HIV/AIDS held in the community through contest of plays, lectures and social events where many people were present.

 

The college has established a system of treatment of dirty water which is used to irrigate the vegetable gardens.

 

Until the end of the year the college will provide room for 100 more students, 6 classrooms and one big office. Students take part in the construction work and hereby get opportunity to learn new skills.
